PLAUCHEVILLE, La. - The flood that devastated families in Avoyelles a month ago brought
disaster relief teams from all over the country to help, and now, it’s time for them to head home.
One such disaster relief team is the Billy Graham Disaster Relief Team, stationed at Point of Life
Community Church in Plaucheville. The disaster relief team aided families in providing meals
and helping out in any way they can, while working with the Southern Baptist Convention of
Oklahoma, also stationed at Point of Life Community Church. The two groups worked together to
provide meals and drinks, cleaning supplies, and hygiene products to those flood victims of the
area. Altogether, 70 boxes of supplies were given out and 50 meals were given out.

In Big Bend, vans and RVs piled the parking lot of the fellowship hall of Bayou des Glaises
Baptist Church. Big Bend and Bordelonville were two hard-hit areas and the organizations
stationed there helped gut houses, provide meals, and more.

Another hard-hit town, Bunkie, also had disaster relief groups helping out. The back of the
parking lot at First Baptist Church Bunkie was full of vans, RVs and other vehicles ready to serve
the people of Bunkie.

As the recovery process for most smooths over, the disaster relief teams head home or to other
areas to help with floods and other disasters.
