MARKSVILLE, La. — A major road improvement project is set to begin next week on a portion of Louisiana Highway 107 in Avoyelles Parish.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that construction will start Monday, Aug. 10, on a $5.3 million rehabilitation project covering approximately seven miles of the highway.
The work will take place between Mark Street in Marksville and the Red River Bridge and will include:
- Full-depth roadway base repairs
- Milling of the existing asphalt surface
Motorists traveling through the area should expect intermittent lane closures throughout construction. Drivers are urged to reduce their speed, obey all traffic control devices and use caution around workers and heavy equipment.
DOTD expects the project to be completed by late fall, although the timeline could change depending on weather conditions.
