SIMMESPORT, La. — A 36-year-old man was arrested following an incident at a Simmesport apartment
complex on Sunday, July 5, according to the Simmesport Police Department.

Officers responded to a call for service at the apartment complex and launched an investigation that
resulted in the arrest of Trent Lovelle Janice Jr.

Janice was booked on the following charges:

Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

Child endangerment

Careless operation

Child restraint violation

Disturbing the peace

Flight from an officer

Driving with an expired driver's license

In a statement, the Simmesport Police Department said it remains committed to protecting the community
and will continue to thoroughly investigate incidents involving violence and offenses that endanger
children or the public.

Authorities have not released additional details about the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
